Walking in Uprightness.

Uprightness brings to mind the notions of unchanging standards, correctness, genuineness, and forthrightness. When we walk in uprightness, we also have the right to lay claim to God’s ability to defend us, and He certainly will. The uprightness of a man is perfect through the righteousness of Christ, He is perfectly justified, made complete in Christ. He who has the righteousness of God, is perfect, Uprightness is a further moral aspect of God’s holy character. [cf. 2 Corinthians 5:21]

The Scripture tells us that the righteous will flourish like the palm tree, the idea of uprightness in scripture is more concerned with perfection. An upright man—a true believer, constantly studies God’s Word and agrees with the whole and entirety of scripture because it is God’s Word.

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace.

[cf. Psalm 37:37]

We see that not only is God upright, but he has also created humanity in uprightness. According to the scripture we learn that, “God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes.”  Because of man’s crooked schemes he has become a twisted mess, and is far from the Creator’s purposes.  Although man has become twisted from his original upright position, God has not given up on him. The scriptures makes us understand that God still “instructs sinners in their ways.”

When we talk about the characteristics of an upright person; that person has a secure walk or lifestyle [cf. Proverbs. 10:9], The upright man will not stoop to anything against his conscience, He leads a pious, honorable and honest life. His mind and heart is free from ill-feelings and false hopes. The upright man will be good in bad times. The laurel keeps its freshness and greenness in the winter season. “My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go, my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.” [cf. Job 27:6].

Uprightness is a complexion which will not alter. The upright man’s zeal is like the fire which the vestal virgins kept in Rome always burning. The upright man is resigned to God with a singleness of heart to honor and serve Him. He is wholehearted, sound, true, sincere, and obedient while walking in the integrity of his heart, for his heart and mind are conformed to the things of God.

Also an upright person is guided by integrity, and avoids crooked paths, his ways are blameless and does what is righteous, someone who speaks the truth at all times, and it mandated to live an upright life as Christians. God calls us  upright, and perfect, because he intends to make us so. God is a very present help to the upright in trouble and comforts them with a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Uprightness is key to God and we ought to prioritize being upright at all times in every aspect of our life. Consider this, the upright will dwell forever with God. Yes, the upright will dwell with God and will delight themselves in abundance of peace.

Yours in Christ, Shalom.
